2 weeks to preorder “Rise like Fire” by Jake and the Infernal Machine

17 Apr

Hey friends
I am happy to announce the release of our new album 2 years in the making, “Rise Like Fire,” by the folk and punk band I play and write songs for, Jake and the Infernal Machine. It will be released in July, but if you want to get your copy weeks earlier, please consider preordering.

Order yours here, and it’ll help us get the album professionally mastered. We have less than $500 left to raise:
http://igg.me/at/InfernalMachine/x/6646945

We’re really excited about the new recordings, which we’ve been working on since November of 2012. We have songs of all different genres, ranging in topic from the Greek Insurrection to gentrification in Boston, to our love for the Charles River. You can hear some early mixes of these new tracks here:

Thanks for the support,

Only 30 days left to Pre-order new Jake and the Infernal Machine album

1 Apr

Hey friends
We’re getting really close to releasing a new album. Currently we’re working on final mixes, coming up with an album name and creating album art.

We’d really like to get the recording mastered, which will make it sound waaayyy better, so we’re trying to raise money through Indiegogo to make that happen. We only have 30 days left to raise $925. If you don’t preorder by then, you’ll have to wait until the end of June when the album comes out. Please pitch in by preordering your copy today:

Buenas Noches, Buenaventura (July 19, 2013)
06:37

“Buenas Noches, Buenaventura,” an advanced release from the upcoming 4th album by Jake and the Infernal Machine. This song tells the tale of the life and struggle of famed Spanish Anarchist Buenaventura Durruti.

https://archive.org/details/BuenasNochesBuenaventura

Lyrics:
It was a dark time in Spain
Storm clouds always gather thick before the rain.
And in his hand he found a gun, to his friends he was the one
He was the people’s bravest son, fought on behalf of them.
Bullets flying towards the priest, and the beast it gnashed its teeth
Chased the friends onto the streets, into the world they were released.

(Chorus)
Buenas Noches, Buenaventura, its been a good fight
You’ll come back to us when its time.
Buenas Noches, Buenaventura, when you close your eyes
All your people are there inside.

Hijo del Pueblo, more precious than a pearl
Running fugitive from the world
Back at home the jackboots fall, and the friends they heed the call
Slip back in, commence the brawl, sent straight to the prison walls.

(Chorus)

Spanish people, go retrieve your stolen sons and daughters
The fascists in the barracks are ready for the slaughter
The anarchists unleash their guns, the workers rise, the fascists run,
And giving chase, the people come. Militia of revolution.

Buenas Noches, Buenaventura, you live by the gun
You’ll come back to us when we’ve won.
Buenas Noches, Buenaventura, under the sun
Grows the sweet fruit of revolution.

The world ignores the cries of the Spanish people
Them reds and anarchists are burning down the steeples.
November storm clouds come around, and fascist bombs break Madrid’s ground
But when our hero comes to town, Buenaventura is shot down

Buenas Noches, Buenaventura, its been a good fight
You’ll come back to us when its time.
Buenas Noches, Buenaventura, the day that you died
All your people lay down and cried.

Happy May Day! A new song to celebrate

30 Apr

Hey friends and comrades!

In celebration of May Day (tomorrow!), Jake and the Infernal Machine are releasing a new song song, “Haymarket,” from our upcoming album. We hope to have the rest of the album ready at the end of the summer! Enjoy –

Click here to hear the song!

Lyrics
Four men swingin’ in the wind

Four men swingin’ in the wind

Hey Mama, did they do down to Haymarket?

Was that their only sin

They fought to bring us 8 hours

a general strike for 8 hours

but the state devours when it can win

bullets and batons are their power

“The Day will come when our silence will be more powerful than the voices you throttle today.”

(August Spies)

They killed some workers at McCormick’s

so in their papers the anarchists

swore they’d tear the rich down from their high tower

they called at meeting at Haymarket

The mayor said all was quiet

police go home, there’ll be no riot

but Bonfield sent his men in to crack some skulls

dead bodies gathered there in piles

The called the rebels instigators

make raids now, look up laws later

hang one man for every hour

and make examples of the leaders

five men waiting on the gallows

five men waiting on the gallows

grave digger, dig them graves shallow

cause they’ll be rising up tomorrow

now there’s 4 men swingin in the wind

4 men swingin in the wind

only 2 were even down at Haymarket

its not the end, its the beginning

its not the end its the beginning.

its not the end its the beginning.

Remember we are the beginning.

(Extra verses)

Lucy went down to see her husband

one last time before they hung him

but they stripped her naked along with her child

and threw them both into the dungeon

Louis Lingg wouldn’t go quiet

hang man kill me if you’d try it

slipped a capsule between his teeth

and blew his skull into fragments
